Traveling to Rome from The Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport (CIA) involves arranging your own transfer. Rome’s main international airport is Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO). Ciampino is an alternative landing site for those flying on budget airlines from various European destinations, as well as charter services.
While renting a car is a great option for exploring Rome and the surrounding areas, it is not recommended for getting to the city or any other urban setting. The urban roads are very often full of traffic, that is why it is better to prefer public transportation such as bus, metro or train.
The closest option of public transport is a bus. The Terravision shuttle service departs from the different terminals at Ciampino every 30 minutes and it is the best option for getting to Rome’s city centre. The fare is €5 per adult.
There are also taxis & private transfers. A private transfer from Ciampino Airport to Rome’s city centre is around €30 depending on traffic. The journey should take around 35min during normal traffic, but it can take longer due to heavy traffic or road works.
