Knowledge and Skills Requirements

Recruits will also be tested for mental and physical fortitude as well as resilience in potentially dangerous situations.Not everyone gets through to the end of the training program and graduates are expected to maintain the highest levels of integrity. Each candidate goes through rigorous background checks and evaluation processes along the way.
Eligibility Criteria
Before enrolling in the CAOP program and beginning the full training process, recruits are expected to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Must be a US citizen over the age of 21
- Must have completed a bachelor’s degree with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0
- Submit a writing sample with an application
- Must be eligible for access to sensitive information and capable of obtaining a security clearance
Application Process
The application process for becoming a CIA agent in the United States is quite straightforward. Before beginning the application process, applicants should ensure the meet the basic eligibility criteria mentioned earlier. Once the initial criteria is met, applicants can visit the CIA website and register for a position by submitting their contact information and a résumé or CV.
